Austria 2011 - Alf Poier - Happy Song
One of the great heroes for fans of Eurovision strangeness in recent years was Alf Poier, whose fabulous Dadaist entry Weil der Mensch Zählt confused a continent in Riga back in 2003. He had another go a couple of years later with a fabulously depressing tune called Good Old Europe Is Dying, which proved so popular that Austrian telly had to change the rules of their contest to stop it getting through.
So it's a darned shame that his latest stab - Happy Song - didn't make it to the final ten of his home final this year, because it really is rather special.
