Estonia 2014 - VÖÖRAD - Maailm On Hull

In what's proving to be a pretty slow year for Apocalypse-worthy performances, I was relying on Estonia to give me a few likely contenders. But upon listening to the final declared list of 20 songs, I was a little bit underwhelmed - especially considering the wonders they've dealt us over the last few years.

But there are a few glimmers of hope. Lenna we've already seen, but that's a bit normal. This little tune, however, is a slightly different animal.

It's starts off in a gloriously unhinged alt techno style, and although it begins to become a little more usual by the time it hits the chorus, it definitely holds much promise for the live shows - as the picture above suggests.

  1. I really like this. In fact, if it wins Eesti Laul I can see it being my favourite in Copenhagen. Love the retro 1988 style beat, and really enjoy the energy in the song. They'll need to change a lot of the lyrics, though, I guess. The word "Pohhui" appears three times towards the end (Estonian for the F word). There's numerous drug references. And of course we have the line "Miks sa mängid munni kui me näeme vagiinat", which would translate as "Why play with your cock if you can see a vagina". I can't see the EBU being won over with that....

    1. As an Estonian, I shall correct some mistakes. "Pohhui" is Russian and "Miks sa mängid munni kui me näeme vagiinat"
is more like: "Why are you a dick(as acting to be one) if all we can see is that you're a pussy."

    2. Thanks for the locals view, Yuki! Always welcome!
