Macedonia 2015 - Daniel Kajmakoski - Esenski Lisja

So November has hardly gotmgoing, and Junior Eurovision is still in full swing, but Eurovision 2015 already has it first entrant. That can't be right? Yes, after a long and drawn out final in Skopje, Macedonia chose this - mawkish plodder by a moderately good looking lad.

But the screams from the crowd told us that he must actually be someone in his home nation, and right enough, it turns out that he's the current Macedonian X Factor winner - a title he bagged by singing a Tose song.

He'll translate well to a wider European audience then...

  1. Two major points, though, are that (a) dear ol' Daniel is not the winner of Macedonian X factor, but of Adria X factor, ie ex Yugoslvia. His mentor, mind you, was another dear ol'. Dear ol' Zeljko Joksimovic, and (b) this isn't the actual song to be performed in Vienna. Skojpe Festival was only to choose the artist, not the actual song. The song will be revealed early 2015. Daniel has stipulated that the song be in English, which probably means it will end up being in Macedonian.

  2. Nice work Ido! That's news we can definitely use! And then there's all this vote buying business too! Although why someone that presently popular would need to do that is quite beyond me. Sour grapes from the runners up? Surely not...? ;-)

  3. The voting fraud had nothing to do with the winner, but with another singer and production house. Although Kajmakoski is probably at the peak of his popularity and it helped him gain votes, his win was clear as a whistle. This is first hand information from Macedonia.

  4. But I'm also hearing from someone close to the Macedonian delegation that it was the song that came second that is under investigation. If that is disqualified, the top two will tie on points - meaning that the winner of the international jury will take the prize.

  5. So this means that poor Daniel could lose out through no fault of his own!

  6. Another addendum. Turns out it wasn't the song that came second, but the song that came second in the televote.
