Moldova 2011 - Formaţia Ion Krasnopolski - Cu Fanfara Pina Dimineata

There's a great tradition of brass wedding bands in the South East corner of Europe, and Moldova is home to many of the most unhinged among them. So I was very pleased to hear Ion Krasnopolski's mob and their happy-go-lucky stomp had made it to the Moldovan pre-selection final.

It trundles along bouncily enough, until around 1:18, when it suddenly turns into an approximation of the dawn chorus, acted out in the medium of metal wind instruments. Quite, quite wonderful.
